Brand: Dial Safety Ladder Corp
Located in: Household Childproofers
No multi-level home should be without a fire ladder. So simple even a child can use it. This panic-proof Fire Escape was developed and patented by a firefighter, and is a must for all 2 story homes. Unlike other emergency ladders, our fire escape ladder is guaranteed not to tangle, becomes rigid when stepped on, and will not sway. Stores easily under a bed or in a closet. Just hook it onto the window sill and pull the tear-away Velcro® strap for a quick, non-slip path to safety. Aluminum and plastic design is so lightweight even a child can lift it. Holds up to 600 lbs.

Comments about Dial Safety Ladder Corp 2-Story Fire Escape Ladder:

I remember the fire escape ladder we used to have growing up... I swear it was 50 lbs. Who knew there was a fire escape ladder out there that I actually could lift with my pinky (not comfortably, but I can). Luckily we haven't had to use it yet, but it's nice to know it is upstairs and ready to go.

My son was so excited we hooked it up to our inside railing. My very active son wasn't able to climb the ladder without help because the rungs were too far apart.

Comments about Dial Safety Ladder Corp 2-Story Fire Escape Ladder:

Fortunately, we have not had to use this ladder. I feel confident it would hold my 100 lb child. It is rather bulky, and finding the right place to store it in his room has been a challenge. It does not fit under a standard bed and my son's closet is small. It comes nicely contained with a velcro strap, but getting the strap back around it once you undo it is a chore. Bottom line: rated 4/5 stars because it is bulky and difficult to store. Still a great product, sturdy and seemingly good quality. A must have for a child with a bedroom on an upper level. Make sure you try it out and teach your child to use it as they don't really understand how it works unless you show them.

Comments about Dial Safety Ladder Corp 2-Story Fire Escape Ladder:

Great construction. I had to modify our window as it is a bit too deep for the 9" clearance, but it was no problem. By modify, I mean I had to use a 1" hole bit to notch out the inner window sill. It's ready to go in case of fire or other emergency. I hope we NEVER have to use it. Thanks, Onestepahead.

Comments about Dial Safety Ladder Corp 2-Story Fire Escape Ladder:

The design is great. It's lightweight and simple to install. My almost 5 year old can open the window, push out the screen, and install the ladder. When she reaches to release the red band, she has to lean far out the window. Only concern I had with the design. Otherwise, easy to use. However, children under 5 may not be able to do it themselves.

We live in a brick 2-story home. This product has aluminum handles designed to drape over the outside and inside sill. Ours must be modified to fit our sill due to the brick thickness. Bottom line- great product, but check the fit before the fire.

We recently moved to an apartment when myhusband was transferred and though we should have had this in our house we didn't get it til just now and we are very pleased with the ease in which it is supposed to be used. Since this product is one that we hope we don't have to write a review on based on actual use, it does seem that it will be easy to use in the event of a fire. (of course maybe we should have a full-on practice with it) Either way we are happy we have it and our 3 yr old knows where it is and what it is for! Thanks

This letter fits well under my 2yr old's bed. Looks straightforward and easy to use in an emergency situation. Still, I hope I will never have need for it. Not sure a child under about 6 could use it on their own, as implied.

Comments about Dial Safety Ladder Corp 2-Story Fire Escape Ladder:

This is a great product, but if you have a two story house with a window directly below the one you are going to put the ladder on then it will not work. Since we moved to a new house I have no window where this will work now.

Thank God I havent had to ...
By Anonymous from AL on 7/25/2003

Comments about Dial Safety Ladder Corp 2-Story Fire Escape Ladder:

Thank God I havent had to use these fire escape ladders but I feel safer knowing that I can get my family out safely if we ever did have to use them. They are sturdy and easy enough for a child to use. I have one for each bedroom and I have practiced fire safety with my oldest child. Remember to check those fire and smoke alarms every 6 months and it is always good to have a few fire extinguishers around too.
