Comments about Summer Infant Inc Safe & Secure Sliding Door Lock with Alarm:

This is a great idea and it did block the door from opening. However, once I opened the door, it could not close because the lock stays open. And the outdoor unlock is #1 covered by the screen door, which you have to open to get in, and #2 it did not unlock. I'm not sure if it doesn't work or if it is not aligned properly...very difficult to align inside and outside parts. It needs some sort of marker or test to make sure the magnets are aligned so the unlock mechanism from the outside will work.
Overall, it should keep my niece from getting out, but I have to use a spatula to shut the door once it is open!

Comments about Summer Infant Inc Safe & Secure Sliding Door Lock with Alarm:

The adhesive slid on both parts so they would not match for the magnetic part to work, and the plastic blocking part snapped off one of the first times the door was opened against it. We had it installed for barely one day, now have a sticky impossible to clean adhesive patch.

Comments about Summer Infant Inc Safe & Secure Sliding Door Lock with Alarm:

I was really excited to get this door lock and was really disappointed when it did not fit my door. It looks like it would have worked otherwise. It does have a lot of parts to it and it a little difficult to install. If it fits your door and you don't mind investing the time on installation, this is great.

An alarm?

Comments about Summer Infant Inc Safe & Secure Sliding Door Lock with Alarm:

I put this product on the sliding door leading to my backyard and pool, trying to prevent my three year old from "escaping". It did not work at all. I followed the instructions (which were typically cryptic) and adhered the lock to the door. The first time I tried to use it, the door opened immediately. The only time it locked was when I opened the door slowly and carefully. The first time my husband used it, the whole lock ripped right off the door. In addition, the alarm that is supposed to sound is so quiet and faint that I couldn't hear it if I was more than 20 ft. away. I would not recommend spending money on this product.

Comments about Summer Infant Inc Safe & Secure Sliding Door Lock with Alarm:

We decided to keep it since we can't get it off of the door, but we can't use it the way it is intended. Once open, can't close the sliding door because of a lip on the door that gets caught. I have to screw it together when I want to keep the twins inside, and take it off when it's ok to go out. Also, does not work on double paned glass.

this one has kept our giant three year old in, even with a bang against it several times, you need to hang it three or so inches from trim and up high for those taller climbers!

Comments about Summer Infant Inc Safe & Secure Sliding Door Lock with Alarm:

I was hoping this would keep our daughter from opening our sliding door and getting out without my knowledge. However, it wouldn't stay on our glass door. When the alarm fell off the door, some of the gooey adhesive was left on our glass. It did work for awhile after we put it on but then we couldn't get it to stay on the window.

Comments about Summer Infant Inc Safe & Secure Sliding Door Lock with Alarm:

I thought this would be a perfect alternative to the kind that keep getting popped off the window, but nope. The whole product description isn't even on the box. I had to call Summer Infant to find out that the reason it wasn't working for us is we have double paned windows/door! It won't work on that. The alarm wouldn't work on it anyway though. [...] was great about returning it though!
