Brand: One Step Ahead
Located in: At Home, Storage, Organizers & Toy Boxes
When it comes to sorting blocks, cars, and small toys, you just can't beat a bin organizer. Too bad most units are built with dowels — once kids outgrow the bins, the furniture becomes obsolete. That's why we built ours with three solid shelves that can later hold books or collectibles! Each shelf also has a lip on the back, to keep the bins in place. Sturdy wood and wood composites, with rounded corners and non-toxic finish. 12 lidded bins included. 34¼"L x 14"W x 22"H. 15-minute assembly. Exclusively Ours!

Comments about One Step Ahead Kid-Friendly Bin Organizer:

[...]Most importantly, the product is TOTAL JUNK. The finishing is terrible. There are scratches that were attempted to be covered up with paint. The outside wood has finishing errors that were also attempted to be covered up. [...] DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! I was going to have this down stairs in the main play area but I'm going to have to hide it upstairs. I'm so disappointed.

Comments about One Step Ahead Kid-Friendly Bin Organizer:

I chose this Bin Organizer because it had the option of using or not using the bins. I liked the idea of having just a shelf on top for big toys, while smaller toys could be stored in a bin below. I was a little disappointed at how small the item is. I guess i imagined it to be bigger. Found the assembly to be somewhat easy but annoying. Also, found the quality of wood was not so great. Despite the cons, it does what it does and that is store toys!

Comments about One Step Ahead Kid-Friendly Bin Organizer:

We received our shipment and the shelves were a reddish tint (matching the sling bookshelf that we LOVE), but sadly the wood was splintering and the finish had major flaws. Customer Service was fantastic and they shipped another set...we were impressed until we received the 2nd set. This time we still had splintered wood, and a horrible finish with drips/gaps/varying color, but the finish was a weird yellow...Unfortunately, since it didn't match, we couldn't even try to use the better pieces from one set to assemble with the better pieces from this one. They also had different lips/edges on the shelves. So, the replacement was equally disappointing and we gave up. We donated both lousy sets to charity and decided we just got suckered on these. I don't know if other reviewers just got lucky or if they simply don't care if their shelving unit has splintering wood and a horrible finish.

This product is very stable (my 3 yr old and 4 yr old were found jumping off of it). It is not as tall as we were initially thinking, but it is a great height for the kids. The bins are perfect for the little toys and our 8 month old can even pull out the tubs so she can play! We've had it for over two years now and still looks new! I look forward to being able to use this in the future as a bookshelf, or shoe organizer, or whatever!! Great for any room!

We are using this for our son's playroom to organize his toys. The bins are great and help him to clean-up his toys before he begins with something else. But the materials itself for the shelves is not great quality. A piece on the side near the screw came off which he glued on, but my son was able to pull it off again.

I like the way my broken parts were replaced with no problems. This product has many useful ways to organize small items from toys, shoes, haircare, sewing, crafts to even clothing. Removing the bins and stacking them gives you shelves to store stuffed animals, books, larger toys and other things that don't fit in the bins. This is a great product.

I had been looking at all the big box stores for an organizer like this without luck. This is exactly what I wanted and needed, and the fact that it comes with 12 Sterilite bins is great! I needed something to organize all the small pieces that otherwise don't have a home in my playroom. It is heavy and solid, and I like that it can be used as a bookcase in the future. I think it is well worth it, and have had several other mom friends ask me about it and plan to order one as well!

Comments about One Step Ahead Kid-Friendly Bin Organizer:

The Bin Organizer is nice, but there was a problem with shipping and packaging. Two boxes of different size, shape, and weight are packed into a large box, without padding or insulation. The wood splintered at some edges, which is hard to fix without ruining the finish. UPS delivered the Box in the rain without ringing our bell or waterproofing: the wood was injured by the time I came home. UPS second delivery was in the rain without protection or ringing the bell, too. Lucky for me I went out to get the mail late! The organizer is very good, but One Step Ahead uses packaging and delivery that are two steps behind.

Comments about One Step Ahead Kid-Friendly Bin Organizer:

I ordered this because I was so tired of having millions of little people, animals, cars, etc. laying around without a home.

This organizer/bookshelf took no time to assemble and I was surprised to find that is is made of real wood and not particleboard. Seriously - there are only 5 pieces (plus screws) and I built it in about 20 minutes, and that was with 2 toddlers "helping" me.

It seems sturdy and fits in well with the rest of my furniture (i.e. doesn't look like kid furniture).

Yes, it's on the small side but just read the dimensions before you order and you won't be surprised when it arrives. I'm psyched because now - finally - all of the little toys in our house have a home!

I love this and it works well in our playroom. Make sure you measure first! The piece of furniture is small, although perfect for what I was looking for at this time. Height-wise, it only comes up to my knees. The bins are the size of shoe boxes, but perfect for our endless Matchbox cars and Legos. I actually painted it since I wasn't crazy about the natural stain and it came out great! I also loved that another person reviewing this product mentioned you can use it as a shoe organizer at your back door in future years. Great!

We bought the bin organizer and canvas sling to help clean up all the toys and books in our living room. We have a 1 and three year old. The bins are great and help to keep everything its place. Holds plenty of toys. The bookshelf holds more than I expected based on other reviews and the drawers are spacious enough to hold boxed puzzles and balls. They look great in the living room and go well with our other furniture. They helped us get back our living room and still have a place for the kids.

I bought this product because my kids share a room and when we combined all their toys there was no organization. So with the individual tubs I sorted all the different types of toys. I thought the tubs might be to small for most of our stuff but they actually hold quite a bit. I did have to go buy a size up in 1 tub and it fit perfectly. The kids love that they can see all their toys and I love that they are organized and not all over the place.

We have so many thomas trains & Cars. We also have the play dough, and markers that were just in a big toy box. This storge unit keeps everything in it's place. As the other reviews said good for small toys only. The bins are small but they are great for our needs. Our two 1/2 year old can carry the bin that he wants and put it back. He does have a little trouble with the lids but he usually just asks for help when one gives his trouble.

This is perfect for organizing small toys or odds and ends. Yes, the bins are the size of shoe boxes. We use it for storing my 2 1/2 year old's play-doh, crayons/markers, stickers, Mr. Potato Head pieces, etc. Perhaps the other reviewers that complained about the size should have read and measured the dimensions that were listed. It took about 30 minutes to put together with ease.

Comments about One Step Ahead Kid-Friendly Bin Organizer:

This is GREAT for small toy cars collections and toys of the same size. I actually like this for an older child with small cars and little men etc... The bins are the size of a shoebox. This shelf IS NOT good for books. Don't think that you will ever use it for that unless you somehow use the top shelf. All the shelves are only slightly taller than a shoebox. Great shelves if you use them in the right way.

This product is a good idea but the bins are too small. The lids are difficult to remove for a child. The picture is misleading. Comments about One Step Ahead Kid-Friendly Bin Organizer:

This is a pretty sturdy storage case and the bins are small, but fine for organizing things. The one we had arrived with scratches on it (it is a cheap laminate - so it would get scratches eventually anyway) but the thing that disappointed us the most is that it is much darker in color than the magazine shows - even the website picture looks lighter. We have golden oak in our home and wanted it to blend in but it looked horrible because it was much darker than expected - it's almost like a dark walnut stain. We called about this, they apologized that the pictures were of the lighter wood - the manufacturer was using a different laminate and the pictures had not been updated. We wanted something that would look nice in the family room for our sons toys but the wood was way too dark so we sent it back. [...]So, if you want a dark wood, cute storage unit, I would recommend this. If you want light, natural wood like most kids things are made of then don't get this.

I will admit that I was running out of room to put clothes and such and what I had wasn't working. And this brought more room and organization, plus my child can't open the tubs and throw his socks all over. However, it isn't really as big as I thought, nor are the shelves really spacious. The picture is kind of misleading. However, I guess I should have checked the measurements.

Comments about One Step Ahead Kid-Friendly Bin Organizer:

This is very solid and well made. It arrived quickly and was easy to assemble. However, note the dimensions-- it is MUCH shorter than I expected. I wish it had another shelf or two-- my son would still be able to reach the top shelf, but it could store so much more. The baskets are small and the shelves are close together, so it may not hold as much as you'd like it to.

This is a great book shelf/bin holder. I just got it today. It took me about 10 minutes to put together. The only thing that I wish I would have realized is that the picture is a little bit deceiving. The bins are shoebox size. They look a lot bigger in the picture. Other than that, it's great.
