Becoming a "big kid" isn't always easy, but these charming transition-themed books can help. Each book encourages kids to give up a "babyish" behavior, because big kids have more fun! Using gentle humor and wonderful illustrations, these books help kids transition away from common, hard-to-break habits such as pacifiers, sleeping in mom and dad's bed, and squirming through dinnertime. Written by Lawrence E. Shapiro, a child psychologist and parenting expert. Hardcover; 32 pages each. See Product Details

About Me Everyday Reader
Comments about New Harbinger Publications Transition Time Series Books It's Time to Sleep in Your Own Bed:
This book is perfect for the 2-3 year old, struggling with leaving babyhood behind and communicating as a little person. We read this book every weekend, and discuss this book when our little girl forgets to "use her words". Highly recommend this little book.

Can't hurt.

I bought this to read at bedtime for my 20 month old daughter, who has mostly co-slept with me and sometimes Dad,since birth. It wasn't planned, but it's just what worked best so we all got more sleep. I think it is time for her to start sleeping independently now. After reading the book to her, I think she understood it and that made her have a few nights of crying even with me sleeping with her. I stopped reading the book, but I do think it can be a helpful tool in this transition. Each child is different. I'm still working on her sleeping in her own bed and letting her cry some, I know will be part of that transition. Like I said, I think the book is a helpful tool. It is written well and in a way toddlers can comprehend.

My 2.5 year old was still using her "binky" at naps and night time. This is more for kids who use the binkies all the time, but I think this has been useful to not use it at all. It's helped prep her. She has now been off the binky for 4 days and has slept perfectly fine. I did snip the tip off a while back and then a month later every couple days snip slightly more off. Then she already knew it was broken so when I pulled the rest of it off she just said "binky broken, throw it away". And that was that!

Purchased 1 of the 4 books. It addresses the specific need of the child and helps parents explain in a fun way to the child what is needed to help the child grow.
