Using at the top of the stairs. Nice quality - easy to install. Nice to have adjustments at top and bottom for trim work near floor. Unfortunately for us, the opening we are dealing with is at the exact 1/2" in between using extra pieces. So we have to pay attention to making sure it is tight and upright-often. Our little one does not test the gate though, some do shake and pound on gates, may not withstand the tougher crowd.

OMG! loving my stylish safety gate. it was easy to install and it does teh job. it does require adjusting here and there for hte door to swing close on its own, but we dont mind lifting and closing, its well worth it and my goodness very stylish. it barely fit my kitchen opening. love it! we are definitely keeping it there permanently. everyone that comes to our home and notices the gate alwasy compliments us on it.

This is a very nice, sturdy gate and it is pleasant to the eye. We put it in an area that a lot of other people walk thru. Really great value.

I bought this gate because it was listed for use at the top of stairs. Well, it only works if you have flat walls on top of your stairs, not if you have a banister. Now I'm stuck with a gate I can't use because I don't want to pay to ship it back. It should have specified that you have to buy additional equippment to install on banisters. I will not buy anything additional because then it would not look nice at all.

After doing a lot of research, we chose this gate for our new townhouse. Unfortunately, it didn't work with our stairwells since they had banisters on each side and you really need a wall. If you attach it to the banister, it will put pressure on and bend the banister which allows the door to fall open. When I called the manufacturer, they said that the gate is NOT meant for our type of stairwell, so I don't fault the product for this.

However, the gateway is really narrow. I'm not a large person, but I had to turn sideways to get through it while carrying my toddler and a baby bag. I'm really surprised no one has mentioned this being a problem. This is a problem for us because we have stairs going up from our front door to our main living level. I can't imagine trying to get groceries through this gateway. There is also a rail along the bottom of the gate which tripped up my toddler a couple times.

Overall, even if this gate had fit our stairway, I would regret buying this gate due to the narrow gateway.

I needed a gate to keep the grandbaby off the stairs. And to keep two big granddogs from going upstairs. Our cats need to get away from the dogs once in awhile.
With this gate, you do not have to screw into the wall. We had the gate up for a week and never had to make any adjustments.
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS, step by step and you will not have any problems.

I love the look of this gate. We bought two for 2 different entryways but with Christmas we needed to block off one room with the Christmas tree. We hooked the 2 gates together and it is working for us. Later we will put them up in the entryways we bought them for.

We have cats and so we cut out the middle bar which allows enough room for even our biggest cat to get through to the basement to use the litter box and their food. But, the gap isn't big enough for our grandson to get through or get his head stuck. For smaller infants I'm not sure. You need to make a cat friendly gate for people who have cats.

We bought 4 of these gates to make our home safer for our toddler grandbabies, and they are working out nicely for us. We easily and quickly installed them in two doorway and two hallway openings - they look beautiful (not cheap or flimsy-looking, not bright white or black, the gates are a very neutral gray/light brown in color) and are 100% effective at preventing the kids from entering certain areas when used with the gates in the closed/locked position. Opening/unlocking is most-easily accomplished by using two hands, but it is possible to achieve with just one hand. The gates automatically swing shut behind you, but we always double-check to make sure they click shut completely because we have found that sometimes they don't. The gates can be installed to open either into or out of a room, increasing versatility in use.

I have a grandchild who is an infant so I haven't used it for this yet, although it will work very well for this. I am using it now for a grand dog. It was very easy to install and very effective for the small dog. It is in my office so I go through the door many times and the ease of use is excellent. Wonderful product!

In the past on Halloween night, we have had to put up two child-proof gates to keep our big dog from the trick or treaters. My husband always felt as though he was going to loose his privates leaping the gates to get to the front door. This solved the problem once and for all and it is quite strong, atttractive, functional and inexpensive for the quality of the gate.
