Solar Powered Laptop

My 2 year old son has enjoyed using the laptop to practice his numbers, alphabet, animal noises and dancing. My only wish is that there was a volume control on this laptop. We had to put box tape over the speaker to cut the loudness. Otherwise, very happy with the laptop.

My daughter got this for Christmas 2 years ago (when she was 3). She is now 4 1/2 and I have a 2 1/2 year old son. Both kids enjoy playing with it. I agree with another review that the solar power is not the greatest but it runs for a long time on regular batteries.

I bought this for my daughter because she wanted her own computer to work on while I work on mine. It sounded perfect, I chose this one over many I had seen from other retailers. It just stopped working for no reason. We changed out the batteries several times and it just doesn't work. My husband is very upset because this is about the 5th item we by from one step ahead that has been disappointing.

Our daughter loves her new "computer," but I don't like how loud it is. We ended up taping a cotton ball over the speaker and that brought the noise down to a perfect level. Other than that, it's exactly as advertised and we haven't had any issues w/the solar pack or it breaking easily.

This would have been a great toy. Got it for my son for Christmas and he loved it. He only played with it about five or six times, then ofcourse moved on to other things. We pulled it back out today and despite new batteries it will not turn on. Could have been great if it would have lasted.

I do like the features on this laptop, although I didn't find them to be that much different or better than most of the others I've seen at friends' houses. What attracted me to this was the solar power option. But you have to remove the battery, let it charge for 15 hours in direct sunlight but indoors (meaning it takes two days) and it didn't last all that long. It does have a regular battery option which we ended up using more often. The laptop is still good and fun, don't get me wrong, but just don't get too excited about the solar powered option.

We got this for my 4 year old daughter for Christmas because she was pretending to have her own computer and she was learning her alphabet at the time. she got this gift and loved it. And we loved it too - it made her so excited to get things right and to feel so grown-up at the same time. But then, four days later it broke. I called One Step Ahead and they were wonderful sending us a replacement right away. A few days after we got that one, it broke too. My daughter never dropped, or even handled it roughly! What a disappointment!!

My 3 year old immediately loved this laptop. He sees Mommy working and wanted his own "computer." He loves to listen to the songs, press the buttons to hear the letters and numbers. This was a huge hit.

Its great. my daughter is learning new words and learning to pronouce them proparly. she is two going on three a few months from now and she loves it.

I got this solar/battery-powered laptop for my three year old great granddaughter. She and her parents were very impressed by the quality, quantity and variety of the different features and sound/graphics quality in this product. The similar product already in the house was immediately assigned to the next charity pickup according to Dad.
