My 5-y-o wanted a train to go around our Christmas tree and this fits the bill perfectly. Great basic set; very user friendly and my son can easily control the train. Be prepared to buy lots of C batteries, though!

We were very disappointed with this train set. Purchased it as a christmas gift for my daughter and set it up under the tree Christmas Eve, but when we started it up (with brand new batteries of course), it just seemed like it was struggling to move. It does make it all the way around the track, but it's so slow! And loud! That and it's a little tough to get it back on the track, so tough that my daughter has yet to be able to do it without help, makes for a very frustrated little one! We'll keep it, but just to set up as a decoration under the tree every year (and because I think shipping to send it back wouldn't make it worth returning). Overall, not a good purchase for us.

we purchased the gift for our grandkids. It was a very frustrating toy. The tracks dont fit together tightly. The trains fall off the track easily. It is difficult to line up the wheels of the trains to get them back onto the tracks when they fall off. I will most likely send the toy back - the children are not able to play with it.

My grandson dropped the engine and it broke in several pieces. The pieces just dropped off. Not very durable. Train does not run smoothly on tracks and is frustrating to a 3 year old. Age minimum for this item should be at least 5 years.

I'm a Locomotive engineer w/ CSX Railroad and I'm having a blast playing w/ this train. I'm especially impressed with the way you can recouple the cars realistically w/ the remote. Only suggestion is to upgrade the remote so battery connectors don't require readjustment. Fun train

We recently received a similar (plastic) train for my son's birthday. It promptly went back to the store because it was near impossible to "line up" on the track. My husband nor I couldn't do it, our two year old son certainly couldn't do it. Also, once the train was on the track, it didn't take long for it to derail. Is this train easy to line-up on the tracks and is it guaranteed to run (tracks on carpet) without falling off the track? Thank you!
