Sandbox with Canopy

Item #: 22067

This is our idea of the perfect sandbox! We started with gorgeous, rugged hardwood, then shaped it into a spacious sandbox with four built-in benches for comfort. Then, we topped the whole thing with a UV canopy to shield kids from the sun. (We even made the canopy machine washable). Finally, we added a mesh cover, to keep the sand fresher longer, inviting kids to play. Made of Sanmu wood that weathers beautifully, and it's bottomless for optimum drainage. 59"L x 59"W x 52½ "H. For ages 2 and up. A OneStepAhead Exclusive!

Our boys outgrew their small sandbox, so when I saw this one I thought it would meet the needs of growing boys. I loved that it included a canopy, cover, and seating in the corners. However, the canopy design is terrible and, therefore, holds water in several places when it rains. Despite my adding a ball to the center of the canopy to keep water from collecting, it continues to collect in multiple areas. The canopy also now is discolored and molded where the water collects. So, there goes the cute design. The mesh cover is also a joke. It does not keep anything out, including water and the sand has started to mold. I am now looking into taking down the canopy and adding a custom cover to make this sandbox functional, which will add another $100 or so to the price. DON'T waste your time or money on this one!

We purchased this product in April 2011. It was easy to assemble and at first glance looked to be of quality materials and construction. Unfortunately, I must not recommend this product. The joints (i.e. wood around the joints) starting breaking almost a year to the day it was assembled. Also the sand cover started to essentially disintegrate as well. Great product for a year, but the life of it feel off quickly after that.
FYI - Live in South, placed in backyard on flat ground, under partial tree cover.

The net was a joke. We had to lay boards on top to keep out the cats. It is a good design but not constructed properly.

I shopped around for the most visually pleasing sandbox that also had a cover for sun and a cover for sand. The directions were simple but negelcted to mention that you should put down a weed barrier which was not included.
Set up was fairly quick but I hate allen wrenches!
The canopy is sagging after only a week so that is dissapointing. 2 items were broken but calling OSA they replaced them easily. Overall I love this and just wish the canopy was better supported for the price tag.

We ordered this for our son's second birthday. He does like it and enjoys playing in it. The product was backordered from the manufacturer and even though I ordered it a month prior to his birthday it arrived the day of so there was no time to pre-assemble and surprise. Once it arrived we discovered that a piece was missing. I called Kid Kraft and they immediately overnighted the part. Once we had all the parts and completed the assembly I put my hand on one of the seats and it completed broke. I believe that there was a weak spot in the wood. So I called Kid Kraft again and they said they would send the part out as soon as they had some as this part was backordered and should be shipped in a week. We still have not received the replacement seat and it has been almost a month.

When it rains the canopy holds water in multiple places - about 6 pockets. You must push this water out to keep the weight of the water from damaging the canopy. This is just something else you have to do as a busy parent that could be resolved with better design.

Overall I think that the construction quality is a little on the flimsy side. I expected something more sturdy and durable for the price that you pay. I recommend that you build your own if you have the time and the capability and that you can have a much higher quality product in the end.

The canopy ripped on one side during assembly and when it rains, it collects water putting weight and pulling down on canopy and doesn't drain unless manually getting water off. Also, wood is much darker in real than as advertised and the tarp or cover doesn't cover hardly anything, it rained the day we assembled it and water goes inside the bottom liner and sets in large amounts instead of draining and causes sand to be large amounts of wet!!! for [$] rip off and would not recommend to anyone.

Somewhat time consuming to put together, but not difficult. Sandbox is nice - sturdy, attractive, BUT the canopy has a rip at the corner seem AND two large footprints that I cannot wash off. It's not what I expected to see right out of the box given the price of the product. Wished the workboot footprints would come off, but hoping they will fade in the sun.....
Nevertheless, my 2 year old absolutley LOVES the sandbox, so I am pretty happy with the purchase.

Cute product! However, the liner did not come and the canopy was ripped! I do have to say it was no hassle to order a replacement of these items. The canopy is nice to keep it shaded and the rain out but the water does not run off, it pools on the top of the canopy. It is a MESS to get the water off. I was soaked! It is a nice size for multiple chidlren.

The sandbox base is beautiful and appears very sturdy. The alignment, however, for one of the base boards was off and assembly was not possible without drilling our own second set of holes. Additionally, the canopy toppers were surprisingly plasitic (not wood) and cracked when they were being screwed in and one wouldn't go in altogether. Lastly, we haven't had rain yet but I was suprised to see a lack of drainage in the base plastic - hopefully the canopy will prevent it from filling with water in a heavy rain. What would have been the right product for the price, fell short in some very important details.

We love it! First of all, it looks super nice and high quality. Our daughter just loves it! The only downfall was that my 200+ pound husband sat on one seat and broke it first day. But, there's a 90 day warranty and they're sending us a new seat.

The product dimensions on the website are incorrect- this is a rectangular sandbox and the longer sides are not marked properly (and only 1.5 inches longer than the short sides). Directions should be improved. Otherwise, easy to build and makes an attractive sandbox. Should come with recommendations on how much sand it needs (12.5 cubic feet).
