Peg Perego Duette SW Stroller

Item #: 13284

Imagine: a tandem stroller that steers like an Italian racecar! Okay, we're exaggerating—but this extraordinary Peg Perego is the ONLY stroller with a steering wheel, so it virtually turns on a dime! (It's the most maneuverable tandem we've ever tested, and we've tested many.) An engineering marvel, with luxurious seats that can face in, out, or each other. Loaded with luxury features, and a great choice for twins—it easily accepts two Primo Viaggio SIP Infant Car Seats (see #13287). Each seat supports up to 45 lbs. In Java. Made in Italy.

Comments about Peg Perego Duette SW Stroller JAVA:

My four and a half year old twin sons used the peg perego duette sw (BEST baby gift ever from my parents). They were 6 weeks premature and the nicu was pleased with the car seats - as were mommy and daddy - and they used it all the way up until my second set of twins were born 9 months ago. This stroller has stood the tests of time, weather, frequent usage, etc. I have a lot of twin moms who have several double strollers because they need different features for different outings - we have just this one because it is perfect for everything! We've even used it in a family race. I couldn't say enough good things about this stroller. The ONLY con is that it has to be taken apart to load it in the car, but peg perego has made it very easy to do so! We LOVE this stroller!

Comments about Peg Perego Duette SW Stroller JAVA:

I agree wholeheartedly with Loves 2 B a mommy's assessment. This is the most inefficient stroller ever! You can not turn it without using the steering wheel. Which means that if you are standing to the side of it and want to move it closer to you or out of the way, etc., you have to physically lift it up from the frame and move it as the wheels will not allow it to move unless they are pointed (via steering wheel) in the direction you want it to go. If you are trying to get through a door way and are pulling from the front, unless it is perfectly lined up, you have to (again!) lift it up and line it up to maneuver it through. 5-8 point turns are extremely common, even in spaces that you wouldn't necessarily consider to be that tight. I keep telling my husband that there is no way this thing wasn't designed by a man, because no woman would ever design something so "cool" in theory, but so inefficient and impractical. One fun thing about it is that people don't realize that it is a double stroller until they are right next to it. We always get the same reaction "Oh, twins!" whenever we walk by. On the plus side: it is very light weight and easy to set up/fold down. The basket is also large and easy to get to with the seats in. Also, with the steering wheel, it does turn very easily. However, in my opinion those "pluses" don't make up for the major maneuverability issues.

    TERRIBLE turning radius

Comments about Peg Perego Duette SW Stroller JAVA:

I fell in love with the idea of this stroller. The turning radius is HORRIBLE. I had to make 8 point turns because the only way to steer is with the steering wheel. If you look at the front wheels (which are the only ones that turn), you'll notice that they cannot spin completely under the carriage. Because of this, it can only make shallow turns. The wheels can only turn a little bit before they are stopped by the basket. It's a lovely, lovely stroller, but it cannot turn in tight spaces. It's a real bummer. And I had such high hopes for it, too. I had to ship it back (which was expensive, too). So, while it's a charming stroller, it's very frustrating when it comes to maneuvering. I regret ever having gotten it.

Comments about Peg Perego Duette SW Stroller JAVA:

I have this stroller, but in the Triplette. This stroller is just amazing! It is INCREDIBLY easy to assemble, switch the seats around and close. It even came with winter bags so the kids' legs were covered. Our infant seat fits up close by the steering wheel. Once we the stroller was assembled and we used it for the first time, we were hooked on Peg Perego products. It turns VERY easily-even with three children in it. TONS of storage-we took it loaded to the zoo-and had plenty of room for food and supplies for all FIVE of our small children. Depnding on my needs, the seats come off for easy storage in the van. It's easy to clean, incredibly padded for comfort. The only thing I would change is the way the seat harness is attached to the seat-but so far, it has not been a problem at all-and one of mine hates to be in the seats. The shades are HUGE-I mean HUGE-they can completely cover a child-touching their knees-which is great if you are caught in bad weather! It is pricey-we lucked out and live overseas where it costs half the price as in the States-but it is VERY worth the expense!

Comments about Peg Perego Duette SW Stroller JAVA:

I purchased this stroller the first few weeks after it was introduced. The steering feature is phenomenal. I cannot tell you how awesome it is to manuever through crowds. Although a bit cumbersome to stow, the ease of putting it together and ease of steering make it well worth it. I cannot recommend this product enough!
