Item looked great on holiday commercials, so it was a Christmas gift for our 8-year-old. Battery life was poor, apps crashed frequently or didn't work at all. Ended up returning the item due to it's poor performance and our disappointment. Check the MEEP page on Facebook and you'll find many other disappointed parents voicing their frustration with the product.

The meep tablet was a very costly dissappointment
I purchased 5 of these with all accessories for my grandchildren one quit working right away the on off switch quit so I purchased another one now 2 others the on/off switch has quit and one will not load any games on it. I called they told me on the first one to return it which I did then they would only give me a credit to the one step store they would not credit my card back. I am so dissappointed my grandchildren are upset and I spent well over a thousand dollars on just this item with the accessories.

bought 2 for age 4-6 boys. one on/off switch broke right away. support websites not adequate. overall very disappointed and returned both for credit. OneStep gave us giftcard in a timely fashion as they have always been good to work with.

Bought MEEP Tablet for my 5 year old daughter who is familiar with using my tablet. I loved the design and the features; however, once we received it was another story. It was too difficult to add apps, we could not upload a movie app and it kept blocking us from being able to use it properly. More headache than we wanted.

We bought this device for our son to use in school when they introduce a program that allows tablets to come into the school as another learning tool. The device is smooth and fast and does not require much pressure at all on the interactive screen. (In fact, the manufacturer recommends the least amount of pressure is the most effective.) We have noticed that the battery does drain quickly though, so it doesn't last much beyond a days charge, especially if playing games.
The parental controls are easy to manage online. With controls over game play time, web access and Google Play store, you can watch and restrict what your child is accessing when you are not around. In fact, Google Play cannot be accessed by the child directly on the device, a nice feature for those who are worried about inappropriate purchases by your children.
I am a bit upset about the latest firmware update that Oregon Scientific released for the device as it seems to have made the Apps folder access unavailable. This will inpare the ability to access learning programs that we may decide are beneficial to our child's learning. I have yet to hear back from them as to whether or not they have fixed the problem.
All in all, this is a wonderful first time tablet for young children. The size is manageable, the controls are easy for them to understand and there are challenging games pre-installed that a child can find on their own.
