          I got this kite for my little nephew. I tried it out first for him because he is only 3 years old and I wanted to make it worked. It has a short string and when you spin it above your head, it is so much fun! But I did have to relinquish it and hand it over to my nephew for tons of fun. I loved how the ribbons flutter in the wind. This is a great buy.

          I bought this for my two year old grandson. We were going to the beach for a week. The kite was well made but was much smaller than I expected. Also, you could not really fly the kite. The string was not long enough. You could use the stick to swing the kite around and my grandson and other children liked doing this BUT they could easily hit each other and objects in the area. Directions show how to fly the kite without a string but I could not get the kite to fly that way.

          Merchant response: You are correct, there is an option to throw the kite by holding it under the frame and pulling your arm and wrist back slightly throw and release the kite. This toy is designed for children 3 years and up so you may want to wait a little and re-introduce to your grandson when he gets older.           My son is 23 months old and is just beginning to love kites. Both he and I were disappointed that this kite doesn't do much of anything. It is very small but too heavy to lift off of the ground, even with strong wind. String to use to simply wave in air is impossible for a small child to use. Cute if you need a shelf decoration.

          Merchant response: Thank you for your comments. This would be considered a learning first kite for small children. To make it fly, all you do is spin it above your head. It is intended for children 3 years and up so you may want to wait awhile before trying it again with your son.
