Comments about Deuter KangaKid Baby Backpack Carrier:

This is just what Ive been looking for. Unfortunately, I dont recall reading about a minimum height or weight, but simply that the child should be able to sit up. My 6 month old is sitting and army crawling so I figured he could sit in this pack. It was a bit difficult to get him in although not too bad and he seemed to like to be in it. However, the shoulder straps are not fully adjustable. My 6 month old is in the 25% so a bit small but not terrible so and yet when I adjusted the straps to the smallest length possible they still came up to his ears and could not be tightened anymore. Of course this means he was leaning to one side. I want to keep it because I think as he grows it will be fine but I was hoping to be able to start using it immediately for hiking and such. PLus Im a bit concerned that if I wait too long it wont be returnable if I later discover any other problem. I may try to make an insert that would raise him up a bit but Im not sure yet. I hate having to alter something I paid so much for. Im really bummed that the shoulder straps are so long. Additionally, it did create a bit of neck strain, although I think that may have more to do with my being out of shape than the product itself.

Comments about Deuter KangaKid Baby Backpack Carrier:

We bought this before our trip to Chicago and used it in the airport and since then on a few hikes. Our daughter enjoys being in it... The only con is that it can be hard to get her in and out, especially if you are by yourself.

Comments about Deuter KangaKid Baby Backpack Carrier:

My sturdy 9 mo old tipped to the side consistently which made is pretty unstable. Great concept but needs to be a little more constructed where baby sits so it's not so wobbly. For travel especially, I'll stick to my front carrier.

Comments about Deuter KangaKid Baby Backpack Carrier:

It has everything! I needed to have a pack that didn't hurt my back. It's made really well and has all the pockets you could need for a baby or toddler. I was able to put my 4 month grandson in it and get into it by myself. He doesn't like strollers but loves the backpack and looking around. I also got the sun/rain shield which solves the problem of him getting too much sun. Sure with I had this when I raised my daughter.

Comments about Deuter KangaKid Baby Backpack Carrier:

We ordered this for our trip to Mexico with our 7 month old daughter. We are frequent users of the Bjorn, but she is starting to get too heavy when wearing the Bjorn for long periods of time. Before going I put her in this a few times and took her for walks around the neighborhood just to get her used to it. She loved it from the moment I put her in it. In Mexico, we added baby necessities for our outing to the backpack (bottles, diapers, wipes, sunblock, etc, etc) and even fully loaded it was still comfortable to wear. I am a little taller than most moms (5'10"), but it rested comfortably on my hips and there was no pull on my shoulders or back. Our baby loves this and we'll be getting a lot more use out of it for hikes, trips to the zoo, etc this summer. Only negative is that it's a little difficult to get your baby into and on to and off of your back alone, but I have done it. It's just easier as a 2 person operation.

It did take a little practice to get used to putting my son in but I absolutely love it. I am planning on flying to visit family for Thanksgiving and this will be perfect for use in the airport.

Comments about Deuter KangaKid Baby Backpack Carrier:

If any of you are thinking that this is just a backpack, so why should I spend that kind of money on a backpack, you're wrong. The compartment where you would seat your child has great support and multiple straps to make it safe and comfortable for your child to ride behind you. We used this to take my 2yr old son to the Philadelphia zoo, and he loved it.

We've used this on hikes, the zoo, grocery shopping and walks around the hood. Very comfortable. Looks like a simple backback. Sturdy construction. Fits large waisted people like me. Our 13-month old daughter loves it, too.

Comments about Deuter KangaKid Baby Backpack Carrier:

I love this backpack. It is so much better than the huge ones with the metal frames. I'm pretty petite so carrying around my 20+ lb. 10 month old can be a struggle, but the waist belt on this pack saves my back and makes her much easier to handle. I use it going through airports. I love that I have my hands free for luggage, tickets, etc...and my daughter loves that she can see over my shoulder and look around. She is very comfortable in the straps (which are padded and very safe) and while she fusses a bit when I'm getting her strapped in, the minute she's up on my back she's happy as can be. When she's not in the pack her compartment zips closed and it's just a regular backpack. It fits easily in overhead bins. I don't know what I would do without this and I have never seen one better. Everyone constantly asks me how I like it and where I got it....my grinning daughter and I are a walking advertisement for the KangaKid :). I recommend it to everyone!

Comments about Deuter KangaKid Baby Backpack Carrier:

The concept of this product is wonderful, but it can be really tricky to use if you are by yourself with your kids. There are a lot of buckles and straps that need to be adjusted and tightened and you really need another set of hands to get it all done. I did like the product but it just didn't work for me.

my 9 month old lists a bit to one side or the other and he's a very strong 20lb guy. Having said that, he loves being in the backpack just as much as the bjorn which is great as this is a bit more comfortable than the bjorn and I can shade his head from the sun with the sunroof pretty well.

Comments about Deuter KangaKid Baby Backpack Carrier:

We have a 2 year old version of this pack which we used for our son. We curently live in Japan, so this makes it so easy to travel by train with out the hassel of a stroller. I also used it to travel to and from the states. I check my stroller(in a travel bag) and use this. Our son can walk and if he gets tired or decides to not want to listen I drop him in the backpack. It makes it so easy to go through an airport or when we toured Washington, DC and Hawaii. I use this as my carry on/diaper bag it is that roomy. Only drawback for me is ours does not have all the organizer pockets nor the rain/sun shield. Those make it an even better pack in my opinion.

We love this pack, our now 2 year old loved to be up and able to see. I look forward to my newborn being big enough to sit in it. We will definitly use it on our return trip to the states next year.
