Comments about Aqua Leisure Foam Pad Swim Trainer MD/LG (40-55 lbs.):

We love this swim trainer. My three-and-a-half year old daughter has been using it since last year. While I teach her to swim, this item at first provided enough floatation to keep her fully afloat, like a full PFD/lifevest would. As her skills improved, I gradually removed one pad at a time. The pads are small enough that she did not notice the change. Eventually, she got to a point where she actually had to do something (tread water, kick, etc) to stay fully above water. More and more pads came out week by week. By the last week our town pool was open, she started swimming on her own! Love this swim trainer!

Comments about Aqua Leisure Foam Pad Swim Trainer MD/LG (40-55 lbs.):

This product worked great for our 4 yr old however the strap that connected the front and back was too short. It was very uncomfortable for our son to wear. Despite our attempts to adjust the groin strap it still remained too short. Our son only weighs 43 lbs, which was well within the weight limit. We ended up just taking it off.

I ordered a med. large (for 40-55 pounds) thinking it would be big for my 40 pound 5 year old, but found the straps to be much too short and without any room for adjusting to make longer. While the sizing goes by weight, be sure to consider height.

Comments about Aqua Leisure Foam Pad Swim Trainer MD/LG (40-55 lbs.):

Purchased to help teach my daughter how to swim .... Or at least to make sure she would be safe and comfortable during vacation. We were very excited to get it - only to be disappointed. It looks durable but it doesn't adjust small enough for my daughters body. We put it on her anyway- just to try it out- adjusted it as small as it would go, took her into the pool and even while I was holding her the float would be right in her face. Not to mention she hated it. Maybe if she was older or bigger. ( she 18 months old when we purchased and she's very petite. ) she wouldn't be safe if I let her go.

Comments about Aqua Leisure Foam Pad Swim Trainer MD/LG (40-55 lbs.):

My granddaughter 2 loves the freedom - she is learning to enjoy swimming - she does not fight to put this on - the strap between the legs should be designed better to make it easier to adjust and to remove. Because of the durablilty, it will a one season use. Even so I would recommend this - it is better than the arm things - she really gets to move her arms and legs for play and swim. Thank you

Comments about Aqua Leisure Foam Pad Swim Trainer MD/LG (40-55 lbs.):

We purchased two of these vests, one for a four year old and one for a two year old. After the second wearing of one vest, I noticed that the shoulder straps were coming completely unstiched from the vest body. I contacted One Step Ahead and they ordered a replacement for the vest. The next day I noticed that the same thing was happening to the second vest. When we got the replacement vest, the same thing happened on the first wearing. I decided to just fix the vests myself until I could find something from a different manufacturer. When I was doing the repairs I also noticed that the crotch straps were tearing completely away from the vest fabric from all of the vests and the side elastics were coming loose from one vest. These vests were not used roughly and were used in fresh water so they were not exposed to chemicals. The thread used to sew these vests is very fragile and breaks easily . Additionally, there is no reinforcement at the stress points and the fabric is too thin to support the crotch straps. I find the fit of the body to be too loose; one of the kids is thin and one is chunky. I was very disappointed with this purchase and feel these vests are unsafe.

This works well to help a child float. However, it would be better if the sides had adjustable straps so it can be tightened.

This might work best with kids who know how to float and even swim a bit. This is not for kids under 4 (unless they can swim). It doesn't hold them up and doesn't keep them upright. Go with the puddle jumper. It's wonderful.

This is a good product and works well however the sizing is definitely off. I bought the medium for my 4 and 6 year old who are both on the lower end of the Recommeded weight for this product. The strap that goes in between their legs was way too short and was very uncomfortable for both of them. I tried loose ing the straps all around but it didn't help. I returned them [...]

Stitching in the first one was sub par [...] This is your basic safety swim vest. It's easy to setup and adjust. I would use it only for pools and not open waters (personal opinion). Size and shape does not impede my sons ability to make naturally swimming motions (age 2). Good value.
