Comments about Step 2 Extreme Coaster:

We bought this for our grandson's 2nd birthday gift and presented it ito him at the party (assembled) which took place in a public park. This coaster soon became the main attraction at the park with kids we didn't know lining up for a turn! [...] The assembly was not hard as described by one reviewer. It took my son about 30 minutes working alone. This is a great way to get the kids outdoors away from the TV and electronic games doing some physical activity.

Comments about Step 2 Extreme Coaster:

The assembly on this was a genuine pain, perhaps because I did it without anyone else to help. It's really big (ramp is probably about 8 feet long), and typical of most Step 2 products, the screw holes don't line up or aren't pre-drilled, etc. But once you've got it set up, this is the best toy on the block. Highly worth the investment. Easy concept--you push the car to the top of a ramp, climb up with it using the built-in steps, sit down and push off, traveling 15 to 20 yards from the end of the ramp. The kids want to do it over and over (hint: GREAT exercise for them), it's easy enough that they don't need your constant involvement, and most of the time they even do well at taking turns. My 11-month old can actually push it at least part of the way up, but it's exciting enough that the 8 year old down the street loves it, too. The 2-year old got the concept on the first try. Make sure you have PLENTY of space, however. It's not for tight backyards. We set ours up on the patio so that it has a stable, level concrete base and have it shooting out into the backyard with a series of wooden planters to serve as a backstop of sorts to prevent it from going too far. Goes about 15 yards in thick summer grass, much farther in winter when the grass is dry. Would work well indoors from a technical sense, but you'd have to have an amazingly long clear pathway. Very small children can ride in a sibling's lap, though I'm sure the manual wouldn't recommend this. Not for adults, though. I'm tiny (100 pounds) and it clearly wasn't going to hold my weight when I attempted it once. I'd say it probably maxes out around 75 pounds. 4 stars, only because I'd rather cut my arm off than assemble it again. Other than that it's amazing. Have had it for a year now, and despite regular use, it's in excellent shape, save a few stickers the kids have ripped off along the way.
