We have an 18' banister that needed to be covered. We bought both the 15' and a 5' roll. They are not made from the same material. The 15 ' roll is crystal clear. The 5' roll is made from a slightly heavier plastic, but not as clear and becomes opaque when dented or bent. We will be returning the 5' roll and buying a second 15'.

Easily installed. Baby has lost interest in the banister since she can't reach through it. It's doing exactly what I wanted it to do.

Bought this a few years ago for the second floor railing of our bi-level. And it does the intended purpose of preventing the kids from climbing up on the railing. The material is not as clear as I thought it would be from the picture. It's more frosted looking. Also, I had to carefully drill the holes in. Hole puncher in box was useless. The material is pretty flimsy so, if you don't drill carefully, I wouldn't be surprised if it started to rip. I'd recommend that you do this in your garage or someplace where you won't have to worry about infants picking up and eating the tiny plastic circles you are drilling in case you miss one when doing cleanup. Since the plastic was rolled up, I had to weigh it down like a beach blanket with books on each corner in order to flatten it out enough to do the drilling. There is a thin plastic film layer over the material that does start to peel near the edges over time. However, the bottom line is that it does the trick and it is not so flimsy that I would be nervous that kids would be able to rip it or fall through no matter how hard they pushed on it. I am now purchasing another one because I have since had another child and he has just started to pull himself up and pull down books from the bookcase that is in front of another railing. Would rather put the rail guard than have books fall on him.

Hard to install around our banister, our isn't just straight it has curves and it's hard to get it all smooth. Construction is ok for our toddler grandchildren but they are not here everyday. I would not leave them anywhere near the banister even with the guard on.

It works great my son can't slip and fall from sticking his arms and legs through the rails. He figured out it makes noise though and hits it.

We don't have the traditional spiral rails but was hoping this would work. This wouldn't work with the way our staircase is built unless we were to nail it to the front of the wood which wouldn't have looked good and our railings are very far apart so it would not be sturdy enough. I would not advise if a tie strap would not fit around your railing or if your railing is too far apart.

We debated the purchase of this product for weeks. We needed something though, and it came down to the price. The banister guard is sold for a reasonable price. The plastic is very clear and unobtrusive to the style and light flow in the house. It was, however, incredibly hard to install. It rolls itself back up and therefore is difficult to measure and cut to the necessary dimensions. Once cut, the rolling and flexing all the time makes it difficult to attach. I never did get it as straight and taught as I would prefer. Knowing that this is the first of 2-3 children we hope for, I wish we would have splurged to get thicker, rigid sheets of plexi-glass, since it is likely to be there for 5-8 years.

I was thankful to find this product since we moved into a new house with balusters too far apart. Our 2 yr old could easily stick a limb through the rails and even tried his head - this has solved the problem. It doesn't look as tacky or noticeable as I thought it would. However he likes to bang on the plastic since it is noisey (think thunder sounds).

Such a simple idea, but works perfectly. We now have peace of mind when our kids are playing upstairs by the railing. I installed about 25 ft myself in about 30 minutes.

We aren't that handy so worried about our ability to install the rail guard to fit our particular needs. With patience and a few simple tools (ruler, scissors, drill for holes we needed that the hole punch couldn't reach), the process was pretty straightforward and the results were excellent. We were 100% convinced that our toddler grandson would not be able to fall through the slats of our second floor railing. We were also happy that the guard is see-through, so that it's presence feels unobtrusive to the look of the room.

This product was difficult to install, but we are so glad we purchased it. We feel much safer knowing our toddler won't fall (or throw his toys) through the spaces between the rails of our banister.

This clear banister/ rail guard is pleasing to the eye and it provides the safety we wanted for our little girl. We installed it when she was around 8 months as she started crawling, standing, and moving about.

The plastic is crystal clear and does not detract from the ambience in the family room. I also like the visibility for keeping an eye on the baby from various viewpoints in the room.

My husband and his friend installed the guard along 12 feet of railing in about 30 to 40 minutes. Please be prepared to puncture the plastic material with something other than the provided hole-punch. We used a small pair of scissors with a sharp point, however an ice pick or other similar tool would also work well.

We are happy with this product and baby girl loves to pound on it making it sound like thunder echoing through the house.

This product looks way nicer than anything else out there for prtecting my toddler from the railing around the 2 story foyer in our home. Installation took all morning though. The hole punch included does not work, so be prepared to cut your own holes another way. I love the look, and think it is a great detterent, but would not expect it to hold toddler's weight completely, and it was not easy to install at all.
