We were concerned that the inherent property of plastic normally retains odors, so we did not think this pail would meet our expectations.

But as of today, we are still satisfied with the resilient nature of the pail to odor retention.

This pail is wonderful. Now that my daughter is a toddler, 20 months her little diapers are not so little anymore. So the Diaper Genie wasn't working anymore. I thought about it for a month before purchasing. Read all the reviews, looked for similar pails. Then finally broke down and just purchased it. Let me tell you parents out there. Lets just start a craz because this is the one! The only one to buy. It uses regular garbage bags, it's been a month and still have batteries working just fine. Filter is still fine. But lets be honest here! When the bag get full of diapers and not just piddle diapers, I am referring to the blow out diapers and the regular ones. It's going to smell when full. Change it and move on with your day.

I love it and totally recommend it.

We finally gave in and purchased a diaper pail after getting sick of the smell of a regular trash can. This was recommended by a friend and I'm so glad we chose it. I love that it uses regular kitchen bags and does not smell at all, even when opened to throw away a diaper. The only time it smells is when you're changing the bag, which cannot really be helped as youre taking out a bag full of soiled diapers.

The only cons to this pail are the need to buy replacement filters and batteries. They do seem to last quite awhile though.

We got this because we are expecting second baby and the first is still in diapers. AND we have no central AC and summer is comming and we feared the impending SMELL like an old fashioned monster movie! This diaper pail really contains the smell, cannot rave about it enough. I love not having to buy special bags either, that's a sreious money trap. The closing mechanism is not the smoothest, but I just hand shove the diaper down and the smell is totally contained.

Apparently I received a defective product because it will not turn on. I tried replacing the batteries agian to be safe, but nothing! Please contact me to fix this.

We've had two of these diaper pails for 3 years now and they still work like brand new. Have used them through two kids now and am still amazed at how well they contain the smell. You do need to change the filter about every 3 months or so if you are using it regularly. You can tell when it needs to be changed. And it does use 4 D batteries. But, it contains the smell and the fan that runs to keep the smell down inside is silent and undetectable. Also, you can use any trash bag you want. It is also really easy to get the trash bag out once it's full without getting hit by the smell. I researched a ton of diaper pails when first looking years ago and still haven't seen anything as good. It does truly work! The only down side is that the big baby stores near us stopped carrying the filters. But, you can easily order them online.

This is the best diaper pail. If you follow the directions: change bag weekly and batteries/filter every three months then it works perfectly! I mean absolutely no smell! Ever! This was my third diaper pail. I kept trying new ones because none of them worked. I've had this for a year and love it! It is expensive to keep buying batteries and filters but, for me, worth every penny! I've bought two others as gifts since I fell in love with mine!

I don't think my search for the perfect diaper pail will ever end, but this is the best one I've found so far. The odor can escape if the lid does not shut properly, but otherwise it absorbs the odor pretty well.
The pieces that open to let the diaper fall in and the hinges break easily and I have to adjust them frequently.

I love this diaper pail. I got one when I was pregnant with my son and it worked great!!! I loved it. It held in smells, uses standard 13 gallon trash can bags and held a good amount of diapers. The only down sides are that is needs batteries and it's top heavy which is what lead to mine getting broken. Be careful when changing the bag out because, with it's heavy top, it wants to fall backwards. I replace it with another brand's diaper pail that also used stander trash bags (because the store I bought this pail at not longer carried it) and it's horrible. My son's room smell horrible after two day. I find myself cleaning it out before the trash bag is even full. Now I'm excepting another child and I'm going to buy myself another one of these. Pros definitely out weight the cons.

It worked well in the beginning. Although, I didn't like the loud click sound when it closes either and thus, couldn't close it all the way during the night. I was surprised at how quickly I needed to change the batteries (it needs 4 D) and the filter. Seems like it should last longer than a couple months. Sometimes, the diaper didn't plunge on it's own and I had to shove it down with my hand which defeats the whole purpose. Then, it just stopped working. I changed the batteries and the filter, checked all the parts per the manual and nothing. For the money, this should work way longer than 6 months. Would have been better off with a cheap one and replacing it when it got smelly. Now, we just put the diapers in the kitchen trash can (it goes out almost daily anyways).

We bought this thinking it was going to take care of smells etc. We had this for probably two months and it broke wouldn't work anymore we changed the batteries and the thing to help eliminate smell still wouldn't work. Don't waste your money I would buy the diaper pale by Munchkin with the arm and hammer powder it is cheaper and does the same thing minus paying for batteries and deodorizer parts.

I have tried the diaper genie and diaper champ and I didn't like either. I have a 2 year old, so her diapers can smell up a room very easily. This pail works great at containing. There is a slight smell when you open the lid, but as soon as you close it the smell is gone. If you don't close the lid all the way the smell can escape, so make sure you hear it click.

I like that you can use any bags with it. I leave a pile of trash bags in the bottom, so when I need to switch them out they are right there.

The only thing I noticed is that it can give off a odd smell when there aren't any diapers in it. I assume that it is the carbon filter.

All in all I love it and would buy another one.

I love that this uses cheap kitchen bags (30 gal) and it really does contain odors. The filters only have to be changed every 3 months. Unfortunately, it uses 6 D batteries to make the fan run, but they only have to be changed about as often as the filter. You do have to slam the lid hard for it to shut, but I don't dispose of diapers while my baby is sleeping, so who cares? I also LOVE that this pail is EASY to wipe all parts clean w/ a disinfectant wipe. I used to have the hands free pail (that my friend swore by) but it was impossible to clean properly and it ended up smelling so bad I trashed the pail. I highly recommend this and would gladly buy it again!!

I bought this in May of 2007 when my first child was 5 months old. I was tired of having to by only certain garbage bags for my diaper genie. Plus the smell was horrible in her room. After getting this - I was so surprised. I am now a parent to a 3 year old and a 2 year old. We use it for my daughters pull-ups and my (Recently turned) 2 year old. I have changed the filter every three months and the batteries last a long time for me. The only thing I had to do was fix the little plastic thing that makes the fan turn on (from the hood). Because my daughter cracked it. Mine has lasted three years and counting. I am now buying one for my girlfriend because I told her it's so much better.
