Test the safety of small toys. Young children put everything in their mouths. If a toy is small enough to fit through the opening in the choke tube tester it's dangerous to children less than three years old. It's a matter of simple safety and a smart way to prevent accidental choking. See Product Details

About Me First Time Parent
Comments about Dorel Juvenile Group Choke Tube Tester:
At first I wasn't sure this product was an absolute necessity. I mean, I figured it was obvious to me what my baby should not have access to and what she can choke on, so why would I need something to tell me that bottle caps and pennies are not safe baby toys...right? Well I bought it out of curiosity anyways, and I am actually so glad I did! So I realized how handy this little thing actually is.First, my 10 month old loves to play with it!Second, I used it to test some of my cats toys. The test tube saved me from having to donate almost all of their toys. It was a nice to learn that I did not have to get rid of all of their small toys.Besides that it is just nice to have around in case their is any question about anything being a choking hazard within baby's reach, the choke tube tester is a practical solution. Its a small price to pay for the peace of mind it provides.

Really Handy Reference

This is a very handy reference for making sure toys etc are age appropriate. Good to give grandparents and baby proofing play spaces. My baby actually likes to play with it as well so it can go right in the toy basket

Gimmicky for a Parent, Great for a Sib!

About Me Parent of Two or More Children
I remember seeing this thing when my son was born (3.5 years ago) and laughing. It was silly, and any parent will know what is appropriate for a baby to play with. However, now that the 3.5 year old has a baby sister, it suddenly is a useful little tool. He has trains and cars EVERYWHERE in the house, and she is starting to scoot and flip and go after those trains and cars. With the tube, he has been taught to "check" all his toys that are remotely near her, and to keep the ones that are too small (or any with wheels for that part) away from her play area. It's useful because suddenly it puts the size of his toys into perspective. It also helps him understand why he can't share his raisins and cereal with her, because they are "too small".
Works great

Solid construction, simple to use, and works as stated. Helps identify those borderline items that you wonder if they really could choke on them. Highly recommend to prevent potential choking hazards.

Perfect for my grandkids!

About Me Grandparent
I recently purchased several choke tubes for my 5 and 7 year old grand daughters. They now have a new little baby sister and live in a house filled with choking hazards. Barbie shoes and accessories are everywhere along with hundreds of other tiny things. I showed the girls how to check their toys with the choke tube so the baby won't get hurt. They think it is like a game to go around and check all their big girl toys now. At least maybe they will know what is safe and not safe before they let the baby have a toy.

Wonderful tool, but a word of caution
By Mommy of girls
from Mass
I bought one of these when OSA had them before, a year or two ago. I was thrilled to find one then and am glad to see they are carrying them again because they are hard to find. Although I only choose toys labeled as not having choking hazards, if I have any doubt I can now test it myself. However, please keep two things in mind. First, toys approved as safe for under 3 must both not contain choking hazard sized pieces AND not produce them upon normal usage (i.e. must not break into small pieces easily as determined by specific tests). The purpose of this device is Not to disregard toy age recommendations or safety warnings. So just because that toy with a choking hazard warning does not fit in the tube, does not mean you should let your baby/toddler play with it. Second, if you do find a toy mislabeled (toy labeled for under 3 that does contain choking hazard(s), as did a previous reviewer), please, please please, report it to the company AND to the CPSC (simply fill out the form at [@]). Thank you! Finally, this great tool is only[$] I would have paid much more for the peace of mind it provided.
Great Tool
By Mother of 4

I have children ranging from 15 mos to 14 years. This is great. Instead of telling my older children to pick up their small items and ensure they are not around, the babies can choke on them, we can use the tool to see what can and what can not be around the house. It is a great coaching device to help the older children understand the importance of items. Before using this, they felt the item had to be relatively small, but now they realize it is larger than they imagined. Great tool!
A must have
By Holly

This item is cheap and can be a lifesaver. I think any parent of a baby needs to have this item. I purchased this choke tube tester because some blocks in a block set my son received seemed small. When I tested the blocks in the tube, I was indeed correct, some of the blocks were too small and it was listed as safe for his age on the box. Thankfully I had this device to test the size and removed all the small blocks, making it safe for him to play with !
Great product!

This product is great. My little guy likes to play with a lot of his big sister's toys and I am never sure what is too small, but this product lets me know immediately!
