After reading tons of reviews on many fire ladders we chose to spend a little extra for this one. The ladder looks like it will be super easy to use, well contructed and stores perfectly under our bed right next to our "fire exit" window. This is a must have for any multi story home.

I was extremely surprised at the weight. It is light enough for my 5 year old to carry and place on the window. At first, I thought it would have to be installed in the window permanantly but was wrong. You can store under the bed and when needed placed in most windows. It definitely will not fit if you have a window sill plant holder so beware. The kids love role playing a fire drill so that they know what to do in the event of a fire. Hope this helps!

I'm so very disappointed with the shape of this product. I had seen a ladder a while back, that was metal and folded up into a nice compact box that would fit easily under a bed. When I received this ladder, I couldn't believe how big and bulky it is! :0( It absolutely doesn't fit under a bed, which means that the only place to keep it would be in a closet, but it would just take up so much room. I'm definitely returning it, which I've been avoiding because I dread the shipping charge to send it back.

So far so good, we haven't had to use it. But it seems sturdy, and easy to put in the window and release to climb down. It is a pain to put back together, but who really cares if it saves our lives, God Forbid, there's a fire.

Recently tried this ladder and will not fit our window sills. We live in a brick house and the anchoring hook of the ladder will not fit securely around entire sill to rest on exterior of home. Tried to place it and it slips off. Relieved that I am finding this out now, before I ever needed to use the ladder (hopefully never).I wish the description had been more specific about the sill depth requirement to allow it so sit securely and properly.

I think this is a solid ladder and I'm glad we bought it. But be sure to try it out first before the actual emergency. When my husband went down the ladder for practice, it slipped on our window. He was fine but we had to drill several holes below the window to help the ladder grip well so it would actually hold the ladder. Now we need to try it with the kids sometime.

Last one I purchased was all metal with rubber placed along outside of tread where it would come into contact with side of house when used.

We opened them up to wash them and we can't get them folded back up. They take up alot of room when not rolled up and velcroed closed properly.

It would have been better if there were measurements of how long the ladders were, on the descriptions page. We have a two-story house, but wasnt sure which size to buy. Went conservative and bought two story....apparently needed three story, as two story is only 12 feet long. But the product is well made, good quality. We've owned before, never (thank God) had to use, and have always before left behind deliberately for the new owners when we sold the house.

I ordered this ladder hoping my 7 year old daughter would be able to use it in an emergency. It is much heavier than I expected and would have to help her put it in the window and use it. I'm disappointed and not relieved to have this "safety" item.

I bought this ladder for my 14yr old daughter's room because she has the most dangerous bedroom from which to escape in the event of a fire. The ladder came fully assembled. I walked through the process of using it with her. It was VERY easy to hook onto the window. We have 8 foot high celings and the ladder went a couple of feet past the first floor level and almost touched the ground where we have a partially exposed basement. We climbed the ladder a little bit from the bottom up, to make sure it was sturdy, and it was very sturdy. We decided to save the whole climb down from the window for the actual emergency ... which we pray will never happen! However, It gave me a little more peace of mind knowing that my daughter had a safe alternate escape from her bedroom.

I bought this product and was so pleased when it arrived. I opened the box, took out the ladder and went up to my daughter's bedroom to try it out. I undid the velcro that holds it in place, attached it to my daughter's 2nd story window and it fell perfectly down to the ground. If ever we have a fire, I know that we will have a secure and safe way to exit our house thanks to this ladder.

I remember the fire escape ladder we used to have growing up... I swear it was 50 lbs. Who knew there was a fire escape ladder out there that I actually could lift with my pinky (not comfortably, but I can). Luckily we haven't had to use it yet, but it's nice to know it is upstairs and ready to go.
