Butternut Squash & Apple Puree*

Homemade baby food recipe for more advanced eaters

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of butternut squash or pumpkin, peeled, deseeded, and chopped
  • 1 sweet eating apple, peeled, cored, and chopped

Directions

Put the butternut squash in a steamer and cook for about 7 minutes. Add the apple to the steamer and continue to cook for 10 minutes, or until the squash is tender. Blend to a smooth puree.

Helpful Tip: Mixing vegetables and fruit is a good way to encourage babies to eat vegetables.

Variation: Omit the apple and blend the cooked squash or pumpkin with a large, juicy, skinned raw peach.
