Worked great. Not a one hand gate though, to get it to latch correctly. Also we used our first one for about 9mo then had to buy a new one. The first got a bit frayed at the top and looked rough for wear. But remember we do run a daycare and it gets opened/closed prob 20 times a day. I would recomend it to anyone!

It is working for us, but the banister kit did not work for our type of banister -- our base is too wide around. We came up with a solution using cut 2x4s and metal ties. Works for us. It is not possible to open one-handed, but we have made it work. You can close it quietly, no problem. My son, 19 months, cannot open it.

So far, this gate is great. It was relatively easy to install (we had a bannister attachment) and has withstood our (large) 18 month nephew. Definitely use drywall anchors though! We like that the gate rolls up but have not mastered the one hand closing technique yet. Our baby is just starting to crawl so we have not had a daily need to open/close this just yet but it's nice that this rolls up and you don't have a swinging gate when you don't need one.

We are using this gate on our deck to keep the kiddies from falling down the steps. Looks great, and is not real noticable when not in use.

I installed this to prevent falls at the top of our stairs and keep the cat out of the bedrooms. It took us a long time to install. Because we have a railing on one side and a wall on the other we had to purchase two installation kits. When you open it it is insanely loud and wakes our baby even though his door is closed and he's sleeping with a white noise machine. The sound is amazingly loud and can be frightening. It also doesn't pull out evenly - it's hard to get both top and bottom hooked without two hands and bending down. Difficult to operate with one hand.

This is a great gate to put at the top of stairs. We have 2 older boys that need to get up and down and twin girls that only go upstairs for bathtime. I didn't want a swing gate that would trip all the big people up when we only need it closed in the evenings. Yes it is loud unless you hold the button down while closing. It is possible to do it one handed (with a foot to kick the bottom part of the gate open) but I usually need 2 hands. I had one of these for my boys when they were little and it never broke. This one is in use for a year now and working fine even with one toddler trying to scale it every night. I'm buying a 2nd one to put at the top of our deck stairway. Another area where we only need a gate occasionally.

We have a very odd space at the top of our stairs, and I was having a terrible time finding a gate that would work. I am so pleased that I found this gate because it works perfectly for our space. I also like the fact that we can leave it open when our 22 month old isn't upstairs. That comes in very handy. However, there are some cons to this gate. As many people have noted, it is incredibly noisy to open this gate unless you keep the button pressed as you're opening it. That means that if you want to open it quietly, you have to use both hands at the same time. Otherwise, you can open it with one hand, but it makes a very loud noise. This isn't such a huge deal for us because I have a toddler, so I can just set him down on his feet while I open it. However, I think it would be a pain if I had an infant, or worse yet, was juggling an infant and a toddler. I realize that they consider the noise to be a safety issue (so that you know if your child has opened the gate) but I wish that there was some sort of extra step that you could do to disable the noise so that you could open it quietly with one hand. Also, I found the instructions to be pretty hard to understand and cumbersome with each step listed out in three languages. An easy fix for that would be to list the instructions all in English, then all in Spanish, then all in French, that way you wouldn't have to wade through the other languages at each step. My SIL and I installed the gate very quickly once I had gotten the instructions all figured out (it's only 8 screws!) but I found them very confusing at first. I also don't think that you need to get the wall installation kit. I bought it, but we didn't end up using it. We just installed it on the wall right above the baseboards. There is about two inches of space between the floor and the bottom of the gate, but I can't see any way that that two inch space could be hazardous to anyone - it's not like even the smallest child could wiggle under there. I wouldn't bother with the wall kit if I had it to do over. All in all, I am very happy with this gate and would recommend it to a friend, particularly if they were having trouble finding a gate to fit a unique space, but I do feel that there are some small improvements that the company could make to make this an even better product.

The gate is a bit difficult to open and close with one hand as advertised - more often than not it takes two or three times click. I do like with two hands it opens and closes silently as to not disturb the baby.

This is the only gate that my daughter could not bust through! She is a Houdini and the design on this one is that her arm span is physically not wide enough to release the latch and unhook the gate at the same time. Once you get a hang of this gate, you will never use another.

This gate was used in a doorway of our toddler room and within 4 days it was broken. The mechanism that opens the gate broke when a parent tried to open it.

This product works well. It does what it's suppose to do as in acting as a barrier. We put it in front of our stairs, leading down to the basement. The main thing that we hate about it is that the childproof mechanism, you have to push and pull out the button then keeping the button pushed in you have push it back(if that makes any sense) then you can unlatch it and roll it back up. Also unlatching it while you are trying to do the finagling with the button it is extremely difficult. You can usually get off one of the latches but to get the second off is work. Safety wise it is great but I wouldn't recommend you put it in a high traffic area where you need to constantly open and close it.
