I was thrilled to find this nativity set! Finally something not made of porcelain, etc. that you can let your youngest baby play with safely! All plush characters means there's nothing to break. Our 7 month old son particularly likes' the baby Jesus, which would can take in and out of the manger. He's not old enough to understand who the characters are yet, but I can't imagine a toy that would allow for an earlier introduction. Also very portable, as the play mat actually zips up on all four sides to create storage for all the characters, and velcros shut so none fall out in travel. And I love that all the characters are finger puppets, so he can act out the First Christmas himself!

I really like this nativity set. My daughter can play with it all she wants and we don't have to worry about the pieces breaking. The only problem I have had is that the yarn on one of the sheep has begun to unravel after she only played with it one or two times...however, she is ten months old, and everything goes in the mouth, so I just have to watch her with it. Otherwise it is fantatstic. I love the fact that I can talk to her about the nativity set and teach her about Jesus' birth while she plays with it.

This set is adorable and I love having a way to introduce the nativity story to my little one, without worrying about him breaking a traditional set. One drawback is it's sometimes difficult to get the pieces to stand up, since they are soft and don't have sturdy base. Another is that the Jesus doll isn't sewn into the manger, and it's very small and easy to lose (or put into a baby's mouth, and it's possibly a choking hazard). So, we are going to sew it into the manger ourselves.

The figures are great and the set is portable ( zips into itself) with finger uppet spots on the backs of the people for play! My 9 month old can slobber it all up and it cna all be washed in the wahsing machine! I would say the only two cons are that baby Jesus is very tiny/easily lost and possibly a choking hazard, - perhaps needs to be made bigger and attached to the manger....other con is the stable is not stable....perhaps they could put the "hard side" of velcro on the bottoms of the stable and the figures, and make the fuzzy part in the middle of the mat out of the "soft" side of velcro, so you can reposition the figures and they will stay where you put them and not fall over all the time.

This is the only set I have found that is rated for under 1 year old.

Not really puppets but still fun for my son. The Nativity and the people don't stand up on their own.
I love that he has a religious toy to teach him the true meaning of the Christmas season! He is really picking up on who each person is.

This cloth Nativity set is a great addition to a family at Christmas time. It will enable our 11 ans 12 month old grandsons to learn all about Christ, and the real meaning of Christmas, in a very hands-on way. It's one Nativity set that they can actually hold, and play with for hours, without anyone worrying about it. The finger puppet feature enables adults to get involved to, and act out the Christmas story for/with very young children. It's a great find!! I'm a collector of Nativity sets; and I have never seen anything quite like this before. I was thrilled to find it.

We received this for our son's first Christmas a week ago, I wanted to let him play around with it before I reviewed. Other than it being slightly smaller than it looks in the picture (no big deal, it was just the way the picture was angled) it's really a very clever and cute idea. Most nativity sets are basically hands-off for small children, but this one has had my 10-month old stuffing in his mouth and playing with the different dolls. Each doll comes with a little slot for a finger on the back, so they make great finger dolls. We got the bag personalized, which looks great, and the whole thing just zips up so you can port it around. We will probably be bringing this out on the holidays for years to come!
