Cheap plastic, uneccessay. Had to still drill into the banisters because the Velcro straps will not support and hold a gate.

This Installation kit allowed me to install the angled safety gate and not have to drill holes in my wooden railing. Holds the gate sturdy and yet is easily removed when I don't need the gate.

Only 1 inch thick and my gate came with 1.5 inch screws so it would have gone into the banister anyway. Had to go to hardware store and buy another piece of wood (1 inch thick) to put behind these before strapping to banisters. Works fine now and seems sturdy but for the money involved could have just bought wood on my own and some zip ties.

Purchased these for gate installation... they do not work well for hardware installed banisters. Tried to install with the gate and the side that held the swing part of gate would move. No matter how tight I pulled the velcro straps. Maybe these work if the gate has a "walk-thru" and not the entire gate opens.

We have carved banisters on both sides of the top of our stairs, and on one side at the bottom. We used 1 adapter at the bottom of the stairs to create a smooth surface to use a pressure mounted gate, which has worked well. We used two adapters back to back/strapped together on one side at the top of the stairs where we installed a curved hardware mounted swinging gate to allow for the length of the screws. However, it wasn't quite wide enough to use on the other side based upon how wide the screws were placed apart on the gate opening side. However, we did use the design to manufacture our own support using scrap wood we had at home and the straps from one of the two supports used on the opposite side. The support does shift a little from side to side when we close the gate, but not enough to endanger our munchkin or compromise the safety of the system at the top of the stairs. overall, I am impressed by the product and would purchase it again. I do wish, however, that there were several versions of the product: standard, extra wide, and extra thick, in addition to the extralong version already in existence (which is what we needed to purchase to make it all work).

This product has worked well for our needs. We were able to brace it against an odd post at the bottom of the stairs. Then we could put up a gate as usual. No need for screws.
Easy idea. Wish I had thought of it first.

I bought this so I wouldn't have to drill into my banister. Well the screws that came with the first years gate I bought were quite a bit longer than the 1" depth of the board. So my options were to add a second board to make it thicker or drill into my banister. For the price I paid I shouldn't have to do either.

This gate installtion kit was the best I could find for our stair dilema. We have wrought iton railings on both sides of our stairs. We were dissapointed that it did not fit our railings perfectly. Our railings are 30" high, the wood with the kit is much taller. My husband cut down the bottom of the wood so that it would fit our railing. Also, the wood width was wider than our rails, so we had to really wrap than tighly. I hate the idea that we had to "rig" our gate up, but it's better than no gate at all. If you have wrought iron railings this product will work could work for you too.

I use this on my banisters at the top of my stairs. They are great and have kept me from having to drill into the wooden banister. The only thing to remember is that they aren't very thick. Most screws for top of stairs gates require screws that are way longer than these are deep. It defeats the purpose because you'll wind up screwing into the banister anyway. I ended up using the kidco top of stairs gate which has shorter screws. The gate is lighter so it doesn't require the heavy duty screws. [...] Otherwise it's a great idea. Easy to use for sure!

We didn't want to drill into our banisters so this was very easy to use and install. We installed it at the top of stairs with a tall gate. It is sturdy and can handle our 19mos old twins. They like to grab onto it and shake it, so we check to make sure it's stable and it is. The velcro was much better than the ties.
