Not What I Expected

We tried to coordinate this with our letter and number mat. However, the edges to this were different than the others (much thinner) so we had to order more edges that go with the other mat. Also, my 3 year old was able to pull out the foam numbers exposing the plastic cap and wires. The quality of this mat is not as good as the original ABC and 123 because the black around the keys started to flake off 3 weeks after we got it. Love One Step Ahead, just not crazy about this product at all.

Great idea for a product, but the notches on the edges of the mat are cut backwards to most mat products you'll find in the store making it impossible to incorporate into an existing "matted" play area.

Also, I was disappointed that the entire surface of the keys is not touch-sensitive - instead, your baby has to press 2" buttons located on each key to make sounds, and only the white keys have buttons...

My 2 year old likes it, but one of the numbers do not light up. As others have noted, you have to actually press the numbers to hear music/notes (not just the key).

My son likes to dance around on this and it keeps him entertained for a few minutes (not hours). But I knew what to expect based on other reviews, it wasn't a big deal to have to press the button to get the song to play. It's just fine for my 14 month old-and it provides an entertaining, soft area for him to play on with his trucks or other toys too. The one drawback to us though is for only 8 buttons you'd think there could be 8 distinct songs, but instead they reapeat the tunes-SILLY!

This is a great mat, very thick and good quality. However, I was a bit surprised that the sound only comes from pushing the little round numbers, not from stepping on the entire piano key. My son is 1, and he doesn't really stay on it to play, but it is good padding since we have a wooden floor. And its a colorful addition to the playroom.

Great product- my son and niece have a wonderful time making music! My only wish is that it came with the same wavy edges that are sold separately by OST. It is designed to be a stand-alone mat, but for those of us integrating it into the other foam mat options...well, the included edges are just not usable.

This mat is great for all ages. I have a 6 month old and I have 2 nephews, 10 months and 10 years old, that frequently visit. They all love to play with it and the 2 babies love watching the 10 year old play songs. Parents love it too and have been known to play with it without the kids in the room!

The picture made me think it was like the movie Big, each piano note made a sound. Well, each note actually has a number and you have to touch that particular number to make it sound. It's hard for a little baby to figure that out and even when he did and pushed the little circle, he had to do it hard enough. My son is 8 months and he quickly lost interest.

As far as appearance is concerned, it's a very attractive toy. The material it's made of is good quality and comfortable to play on, but unfortunately, this mat is quite primitive for my daughter, who just turned 3. We bought the Piano Mat about 3 weeks ago and she played only a couple of times on it. She likes disassembling and reassembling it better than using it for the purpose it is made for. This mat would be quite entertaining for younger children, though.

My toddler loved that she can switch between melodies and piano playing. Didn't work at first, but I wiggled the batteries a bit and it worked fine. ordered it as a gift for my niece as well.
