Deluxe Nativity Set

This set is awesome! I had searched last year already and was narrowing my decision down to a few including the wooden set by HABA when I stumbled across this set completely by accident. I like the larger size and the handmade style. Its very similar to an expensive german set. I wanted a nativity that could be played with rather than just looked at and this is absolutely perfect! You wont be let down by this purchase. I encountered no problems with the storage box or rough edges as other reviewers mentioned. This would make a great gift for anyone with children. Thankyou Leaps and Bounds!!!!

This is a well-made set ideal for young children. No noise, no "cutesy" figures, no extra frills, just good color and good design leading a child's imagination. It is a wonderful way for children to learn the story of the birth of Jesus by playing with the figures.

Both my 2yo and 3yo love this nativity, but my 3yo can sit and play for literally hours. I love that this is a hands-on nativity, and that my kids can play with it for years and then pass it on to their kids (guess I better purchase another one at some point!)
There a few mystery pieces that I noticed other reviewers mentioned. Still can't figure out what they're for. They don't quite fit together.

I've been looking for a wooden nativity set that wasn't too expensive for my 3 kids ages 6,4 & 1.5. So far, the set has held up great (and it's been knocked over and thrown on the ground quite a bit). The kids enjoy making up their own scenes. I plan on bringing this out every year at Christmas. The wood is lightweight, which adds to the characters' tendency to fall over if the kids bump into the table. But I think my kids will enjoy playing with this every Christmas.

I bought this for my own family a couple of years ago and it was such a big success that I have since given it to all of my nieces and nephews and Godchildren. My kids love to take it out each December and they play with it constantly. None of the pieces have broken or worn despite a good deal of use. We are always sad to put it away but it stores neatly in the personalized box until the next season.

My 2 year old daughter loves this nativity and sets it up again and again every day. Some of the pieces are top heavy (the large tree) so they fall easily, but otherwise she can do it all herself. The bottom boards were larger than I'd anticipated, and the storage box is quite big as well. However, this is a great set and I'm sure she'll be playing with it for years to come.

As for the 3 extra pieces, I put the "bench" back in the storage box but the other two look like brush so we set those up next to the bushes.

Wonderful set! Like the one I grew up with, but larger. Still wondering about the 3 mystery pieces though.

[...]Kids love playing with it and they don't play with mine anymore. Colorful. I didn't know what a canopy thing really was. It was 3 pieces and didn't stay together easily (not pictured).

This is just right for a 4 year old boy who loves Grandma's 40 year old ceramic nativity set, which now has a greater probability of survival.

We still can't figure out what the wood trestle type object is and have noticed in other reviews that other people have also been puzzled by what it is and what it is for.

We hope it is a treasure our grandson can pass on to his own children.

My Grandson is 10 months old, this year he enjoys knocking everything down.
He will grow each year with the Nativity, his name on the box means lots.

I got this for my 18mos old, to teach her about Christmas. I also personalized it, but I DON'T recommend. The vinyl used for the name does not stick well on the box and eventually will come off. Other than the personalization issue, I highly recommend this item, it can last you years if cared for.

It is too bad that after all of the bad reviews about the poor quality box that it still has not been improved. I ordered three of these and for each one, the box was defective.

There were 3 small pieces that did not come with directions or pictures of what to do with these or how to place in the set itself.

We received the set with three mystery pieces and NO BABY JESUS. Of course when we contacted One Step Ahead we were told that the set is no longer offered... so now we are a few weeks out from Christmas with a Nativity set with no Jesus...

My daughter wanted a Nativity set that her 21 month old could touch and play with. This one is perfect. He now recognizes and names baby Jesus, Mary, the animals and so on. Her only minor complaint is that the trees need some way to be anchored because they fall over all the time.
