  • Very Helpful for Our Child with Cerebral Palsy

  • We have used this helmet since our son was 11-mos. old, and it has been worth its cost and more. He is 21-months old now. He wasn't sitting up independently then, but he would bang his head backwards against objects in a behavior called "stereotypy." He moved past that behavior, then started to military-crawl, then stand-up, and now tries to take independent steps. So, he has fallen down or bumped his head quite a bit since those motor skills started developing, and with one side of his body being more spastic than the other, he often falls awkwardly on that side where his arm doesn't support a fall, and his head would bang on the floor too. He spends the most of his day on hardwood floors. This helmet has been a very useful and helpful protective product for our special needs child, and we are grateful this was available to help him while he keeps trying to develop his movement skills.

  • Finally found one we liked

  • My 15-month-old would once in a while slip while cruising and fall down. We had laminate flooring and my husband insisted on getting her a helmet. We had tried a different one before this and this one by far is better, although it is a little pricey. It's pretty cute (she really does look like a little equestrian) and it stays on. For reference, there's room to grow with the adjustable velcro for my 15-month-old, whose head size is about average. My only issue was that the particular one we received was defective and the velcro in the back ripped off. I didn't want to pay shipping to send it back so I emailed, as suggested in the returns page for defective items, but never heard back. I definitely recommend calling customer service, which was fast and easy. The other problem I had was that I was pretty sure the rep said the return label will be shipped WITH the replacement. The label was not in the new package, and I didn't want to bother calling again so I somewhat bitterly paid $6.50 to ship the bad one back (with a note inside saying I didn't receive the prepaid label as told), only to come back home to see that I had mail from One Step Ahead. It had the prepaid label in it. If only I had waited a day to ship it out. Anyways, my point is, if you do end up getting a defective product, call customer service, don't email them. And even if they tell you the label is being "shipped with" the replacement, wait for a letter if it doesn't come with the package. Overall I am happy with the product, and customer service was great. I just wish it was clarified to me that the return label was going to be mailed out separately.

  • Great protection.

  • I have a 9 month old girl baby. She weighs 21 lbs. She is wearing 12 month sized clothes. This helmet fits her almost too small...but almost perfect fit. I wish it came down to her brow and temples more...either way it is made very well. She tried to pull it off the first time she wore it..and she doesn't really like wearing it. She pulled the Velcro on the side apart.....but couldn't pull it off her head due to the chin strap.
